Priscilla Thomas-Nakane has been a professional public relations and marketing expert for over 20 years.  Priscilla began her career in marketing and communications as a corporate communications manager for a real estate investment firm where she rose the ranks to Business Development Manager and then Marketing Director.  In 2001, Priscilla crossed over to municipal government as the Economic Development Administrator for the City of San Juan Capistrano where she assisted local businesses in the new business startup procedures for the City and lead the Chamber of Commerce in its city wide marketing efforts for community businesses.  Her experience in producing city and community events led Priscilla to the Los Angeles area in a high profile position as the Special Events Administrator for The City of West Hollywood.  

 

In 2007, after reaching pinnacles of achievement in her previous roles, Priscilla decided to open her own business. Armed with an impressive network and industry experience, Priscilla leveraged her strong background in broadcast journalism, business administration and public relations and returned to the television and entertainment industry (where she was previously an actress), to launch her own PR firm and event production company as both a celebrity publicist and event planner.

 

Never one to be satisfied with just one outlet of creativity (or income), Priscilla also opened her own fashion boutique (Prissy Girl Boutique) in the heart of Los Angeles on Robertson Blvd.  Being thrown into the trenches of a start-up retail fashion boutique and production and public relations firm, all while being a single mom, was a lot to juggle.  Priscilla quickly learned the ropes of the intricacies in launching businesses from the ground up with a self-led, organic process.

 

It was during those years that Priscilla truly gained a wealth of knowledge and hands on experience as an entrepreneur.  That hard earned experience allowed her to be positioned as a business expert by her peers, colleagues, media, and clients.  During the course of the next 10 years, Priscilla went on to open a fashion/accessories showroom, all girls summer day camp, modeling agency, and beauty service company. But it was during the time that she produced large scale fashion and beauty expos and tradeshows across the country thru her Dolce Vita Shopping Events and Fashion Day Soiree Shopping Events (both self-launched fashion and beauty event production companies) that she came into contact with the hundreds of fashion and beauty vendors that applied to be a part of her popular shopping events. While many were large and established well name brands (Benefit Cosmetics, Lancome, Too Faced Cosmetics, True Religion Jeans, Miss Sixty, and more), a large majority were up and coming brands and small businesses that sought Priscilla’s expertise in business development after participating as vendors in her successful pop-up shop type events.  Her events pulled together 100+ fashion and beauty companies all together under one roof for a one or two day shopping extravaganza for over 2,500 consumers, fashionistas, press and media in each of the 6 major U.S. cities that the events were produced.  That’s a lot of small business owners asking questions and sourcing Priscilla for her expertise in PR and marketing for start-ups. It was then that Priscilla’s true passion for working with female entrepreneurs and female focused brands became evident.

 

Today Priscilla now focuses on a hand-picked selection of clients for PR and offers one-on-one coaching, corporate business consulting, and oversees her team in the auxiliary business services that Savvy Girl PR + Marketing provides.  Still a self-proclaimed serial entrepreneur, Priscilla balances her time between being CEO, Business and Marketing Consultant, fashion and beauty editor and writer, blogger, influencer, wife and mother.  Priscilla is also principal planner and designer of Dolce Vita Events, a luxury wedding and corporate event planning firm in Orange County.
